KESSLER Signs Letter of Intent for 100,000-Hectare Pongamia Plantation in Kenya

We are pleased to inform you that our company, KESSLER, and the GOLGOTHA FOUNDATION, KENYA, have signed a letter of intent regarding implementing the Pongamia Smart Carbon Plantations project in Kenya. Before signing this document with Bishop Dennis, Dr. Margaret, and the team, we invested time in analyzing the possibilities of implementing our project, striving to develop the best development strategy and stages of implementing our project in this country. First of all, in the beginning, we focused on the problems and challenges of the state of Kenya, on which both parties agreed, and we proposed a comprehensive solution. 

Kenya's major problems:

• Desertification of lands

• Uncontrolled cutting of trees for heating purposes

• Shortage of natural organic fertilizers, which can develop agriculture in this country

• Fuel and energy dependence

Of course, apart from these four most important problems, there are others, such as the increased need for high-value animal feed and unemployment, which the Pongamia SCP project can fully solve.

By analyzing in detail the possibilities in Kenya and supporting this project through a partnership with the Golgotha Foundation, both parties have developed a strategy for creating the Pongamia tree plantations and a product strategy.

The target size of the plantation will be 100,000 hectares and will be divided into several smaller ones.

• Thanks to the special properties of our elite genetic varieties, the plantations will be created in desert and degraded areas. Thanks to this, KESSLER, together with the Golgotha Foundation, will start the process of afforestation of the regions and stop the process of desertification.

• We will supply the market with natural organic NPK fertilizer thanks to the Pongamia cake.

• With Pongamia shells, we will produce briquettes for heating houses, which are urgently needed in the poorer parts of this country.

• Pongamia oil will be a massive source of raw material for creating the first FAME biodiesel installations.

In addition, both parties agreed that a significant part of the raw materials would also be exported. The port in Mombasa is a perfect location for export to Asian markets and the Middle East. We are delighted that we managed to gain such a partner as the Golgotha Foundation, and together, and with complete understanding, we managed to create and accept a full program for implementing the Pongamia SCP model in Kenya. The size of the plantation of 100,000 hectares will provide an excellent foundation for the development of this country in accordance with the energy transformation of the whole world and raising the standard of living for the citizens of this country.
