Another harvest — another confirmation of our Pongamia oil production forecast

Today, we are sharing an update from the Negev Desert: we have completed and analyzed another successful fruit harvest from our elite Pongamia tree varieties, grown within our Pongamia Smart Carbon Plantation development program.

Why does this matter? Because our goal is not only to develop advanced Pongamia trees and prove their performance in desert and degraded areas, but also to deliver stable, scalable quantities of Pongamia oil that the fuel and energy industry can rely on for the production of advanced biofuels.

Over many years, we studied and developed multiple aspects of Pongamia cultivation, focusing on maximizing the grain production across different ages of our mother trees. These results formed the foundation for a 15-year production forecast. Our pilot plantation continues to validate both our assumptions and the long-term R&D, year after year.

What our pilot plantation is showing (timeline):

  • Year 2: An unprecedented number of flowers appeared earlier than expected, setting the stage for first fruits in Year 3.

  • Year 3: The trees grow extremely fast, producing a lot of biomass, and the first fruits appeared (yes, in year three!!!).

  • Year 4: First significant harvest, very fruitful, growing fast, trees deliver a high quantity of fruits!

In parallel, Our mother trees are providing huge quantities of fruits year after year!

This is great news as we confirm our production forecast each year, and this consistency is a major milestone on the path to industrial-scale Pongamia oil production.

We’re also learning more each season about what drives performance:

  • Elite genetics are the first step.

  • The second step is to properly develop cultivation technologies for harsh environments, including irrigation, pruning, maximizing tree density, and overall agronomic practices.

  • With the right cultivation inputs and protocols, we have proven in the pilot that fruit yields are significantly increased in a short time, and we will continue validating and optimizing this across the next harvest cycles.

The entire KESSLER team, together with the Agricultural Research Organization (ARO), is very excited about these results and milestones, and we continue working with great energy.
